SIDE DRESS YOUR PLANTS WITH AZOMITE ROCK DUST TO REMINERALIZE SOIL
to remineralize your soil to get bigger
and better plants fruits and veggies
there are different types of rock dust
that are available that you can use to
remineralize your soil so today we will
be using azomite azomite stands for
a-to-z of minerals including trace
elements and it's a very good amendment
for your soil so I was very skeptical of
whether to use rock dust or not so I
tried it on this container of garlic
plants that I have and I'm just gonna do
a side dressing like you see here just
sprinkle it around the plant and then
I'm going to see whether I really see
any results in a period of like let's
say a couple of weeks so this is the
plant two weeks later after applying the
rock dust or the azomite and as you can
see the plant has really healthy growth
except for that one which was planted
later but you can see all the other
garlic shoots have really come up very
well so this is a proof that to some
extent rock dust does work so this is a
bed of okra which I'm trying to
overwinter and at this stage it really
needs a lot of boost to grow so I'm
going to be dressing it with a rock dust
on the side so as you can see here what
I'm doing is I'm sprinkling the dust
around the plant and then I'm slightly
raking it in into the soil so that it
gets to the roots and rock dust is a
very slow releasing mineral and also a
continuous releasing mineral which means
that it will start acting soon and it
will stay in your soil for a very long
time and azomite has a lot of trace
minerals that your plants will love and
it's a great way to add minerals trace
minerals back into the soil so let's
look at the contents of
as a might a rock dust
so after this step is complete the next
step is to add some kind of compost or
topsoil to cover this rock dust
basically this is to make sure the rock
dust settles down into the soil and
doesn't get blown away and we will also
be watering this after the process is
complete so that will also help us keep
the rock dust down so although I am
showing you how to side dress with rock
dust this is also the same method that
you would use to side dress with a
fertilizer let's say late in the season
when you need to give your plants a
boost you can sytrus it with a
fertilizer and then add some compost on
top of it which will not only provide
some nutrients but will also provide a
method of slow release of the fertilizer
by means of watering so when you water
the plants the nutrients get released
slowly from the slow release fertilizers
whether you are using organic
fertilizers or synthetic fertilizers
it's always a good idea to cover your
plant with compost or some rich soil
after the side dressing so as you can
see here we are site dressing a bed so
site dressing is a way to add minerals
and nutrients if you have not already
added it so in case you are preparing
your raised beds now or your container
soils now it's a good idea to mix in the
rock dust while you are preparing the
soil that way you will be adding the
minerals in a very nice and thorough way
all around your plants so once you add
the rock dust and cover it with soil
water it very thoroughly and then your
job is done so how did you like this
video do you sytrus your plants with
rock dust or fertilizers do let me know
I will be eager to hear them do let me
know your comments and I'll see you
again soon until then happy gardening
