HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR VEGETABLE AND HERB SEEDS FOR LONG TERM STORAGE
organize your seeds to ensure ease of
finding your seeds and also improved
viability so one of the problems that
was facing with my seeds for that there
were a lot of seeds not organized
properly and their viability was going
down because I was just storing them in
bags and random boxes and I know a lot
of you there might be facing the same
problem so I wanted to show you one
product today which after doing a lot of
research was one of the best products I
could find to organize my seeds now one
of the reasons for organizing your seeds
and keeping them in a cool dry place is
that it not only helps you find your
seeds easily if they are well organized
it also lets you improve the viability
of the seeds viability is the rate at
which the seeds germinate and seed
viability improves when you store it in
a cool and dry place so as you can see
here this product is basically a set of
16 boxes very well organized and this is
how the Box looks like it's pretty easy
to store you see it's in this box
so this product is also stackable you
can keep one product on the top of the
other this is how the drawers open up
and these drawer sizes are perfect for
storing seed packets as you will soon
see now I tried very hard to find a
similar product in some other stores but
I really couldn't find anything I could
not find any organizer that had these
small drawers that could store something
lights like seed packets very easily so
as you can see here the big seed packet
fits very well you might have to fold
some of the really big seed packets but
overall this is pretty much the perfect
size for storing all kinds of seeds that
you have so the way I went about storing
and organizing my seeds was that I first
sorted out seeds into different
categories based on what I had for
example different vegetables went into
different boxes all the flower seeds
went into one box because I don't plant
a lot of flower seeds but I did end up
with a collection of a lot of flower
seeds here so they should give you an
idea of some of the seeds I have which
were not yet used completely and really
need to be stored properly so I could
use them in the upcoming seasons now
stored properly seeds remain viable for
several years it's because we don't
store our seeds properly we find that
the seed packets because of the exposure
to heat and moisture D create very
quickly and are no longer viable
so by organizing your seed packets very
well it really makes you find your seed
packets very quickly as you see here and
I will also be using a labeling system
which I will show you very soon and it
also improves the viability because your
seeds are now stored away from air and
moisture and tucked away in a nice place
so this is what I use for labeling the
boxes
an Avery address label with a predefined
template which you can easily print and
something like Microsoft Word or any
other software that you have and I
printed out all the categories of seeds
that I had and what I'm gonna do is just
label all my drawers with the name of
the seed packet they contain
so although you can store your seed
packets directly what I got were these
two by two and three by four bags these
are
sealable bags which work great for seeds
and I got them online on Amazon for a
very cheap price I got hundreds of bags
for really cheap so depending on the
size of the seed packet you have you can
either use the smaller or the larger
packet as I'm going to show you here so
this is a small packet you can easily
fold a seed packet and put it inside
still knowing what's there and the large
packet is good for larger seed packets
now again you can cut the seed packet
and put it in such a way that you know
what you're storing so that's how it
looks like after everything is done your
seeds are very nicely organized labeled
and now stored in a very less amount of
space as well so let me know how you
like this video do you do anything to
store your seeds or were you looking for
a solution to store your seats do let me
know what you think and I'll see you
again soon happy gardening
